Sergej Milinkovic-Savic snubs Manchester United interest
According to French publication Le10 Sport (h/t Express), Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is set to snub a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old is one of Lazio’s best players. He has played a key role as Simone Inzaghi’s side mount a spirited title challenge. The Serbian international scored 5 goals and 7 assists in 31 appearances for the Italians before the season was suspended.
He has now set his sights on a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain. One of the key factors that influenced his decision is a desire to play alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
It will be a coup for PSG, who have also had to beat off interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid. Los Blancos had led a charm offensive to lure the player. It included manager Zinedine Zidane personally contacting Milinkovic-Savic but to no avail. (h/t Express)
The development will also come as a disappointment to United, who have been chasing the player for a while now.
According to the report, PSG has made an opening bid of £53million for the player. However, they are expected to up that price significantly.
The Serbian was contacted by PSG’s director of football, Leonardo. The Serbian is keen on playing behind PSG’s attacking duo and is hopeful that Lazio can agree on terms.
United’s interest in Milinkovic-Savic is a reaction to the uncertainty regarding Paul Pogba’s future. Interestingly, PSG are also interested in the Frenchman. (h/t Express)
United officials believe the player’s agent Mino Raiola is the only man pushing for a move.
