Manchester United to battle PSG for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

According to the Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Mirror), Manchester United will battle it out with Paris Saint-Germain for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The Serbian is one of Lazio’s best players as Simone Inzaghi’s side mount a spirited title challenge to dethrone Juventus. The 25-year-old has scored five goals and seven assists in 31 appearances for the Italians this season.

Since joining from Genk in 2015, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the league’s best midfielders.

Savic is contracted to the Italians until 2024 and the club have set an asking price of £87million for the player.

PSG director Leonardo is a big admirer of the player, who is also drawing interest from Juventus, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

United are likely to sell Paul Pogba in the summer. Savic is one of the players under consideration by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to replace the Frenchman.

Claudio Lotito, the Lazio president has revealed that the Italians will be open to a deal of a club are willing to meet their valuation.

“If some offers were to be presented, we’d evaluate them with a spirit of collaboration that looks after the interests of the club and the player. We’ll make the decisions that are best for everyone.”

A powerhouse of a presence in the middle of the park, Savic is a complete player who will be a daunting presence in the United midfield.

United signed Bruno Fernandes in January and the Portuguese midfielder has hit the ground running. He played a starring role as Solksjaer inflicted his third defeat of the season against Manchester City last night.
