Man United midfielder who started all 3 Premier League games makes U-turn about his Turkey move

Manchester United have a bit of a midfield crisis going on at the moment, especially after that Casemiro performance against Liverpool before the international break. While Ugarte is ready to make his mark donning the United badge, there is still a long way to go before this mess is resolved.

Following his substitution against the Merseyside Reds at halftime, Casemiro was linked with a move away from Old Trafford. This seemed as a feasible option, as it would not only take away his wage bill from the club’s books (at least a part of it) but also ensure that only the right personnel stay at Carrington.

Turkey and Galatasaray emerged as a possible option for the former Los Blanco’s midfielder.

Galatasaray’s loan bid for Casemiro fails

As per the latest report by Football Insider, Casemiro has rejected a loan opportunity to Galatasaray, which was a late call by the Brazilian on Thursday. The 32-year-old gave an initial green light to a move to the Turkish giants after they managed to agree on loan terms with United.

However, Casemiro changed their mind at the last minute, and he is now set to continue with the Manchester Reds as the transfer window comes to a close in Turkey later today.

    Man United midfield crisis deepens

While the player started all three Premier League games for Erik ten Hag’s men, his disastrous performance in the 3-0 loss to Arne Slot’s Liverpool got the Dutch head coach questioning his decision to keep put with Casemiro. To put things into perspective, the 32-year-old was directly involved in two of the three Liverpool goals before being subbed off at halftime.

Casemiro lost the ball in his first third twice, which eventually led to the Merseyside Reds getting an upper hand through Luis Diaz.

With him set to continue beyond today, we will see if Ten Hag still hands him a starting role, especially considering the availability of summer signing Ugarte.

Manchester United now sit 14th on the table after losing two of their three Premier League games as pressure continues to mount on the Dutch gaffer.

£150k ‘Zidane’ leaves Manchester United ruing decision to sign £70m star

Fabian Ruiz’s form leaves Man Utd ruing Casemiro purchase

Manchester United broke the bank in 2022 to sign Casemiro after his triumphant Champions League season at Real Madrid for £70 million. The Brazilian international’s arrival gave the fans widespread optimism given his successful career but his transfer could not have gone any further from the plan the Red Devils had for him.

£450,000 per week star negotiating Manchester United exit amidst Saudi interest
Casemiro’s move to Manchester United has not been a fruitful venture for the club or the player.

He has been one of their biggest underperformers in the last couple of years, closely with Marcus Rashford, while being among the highest paid players at the club with a wage reportedly reaching up to £450,000. In the club’s offices, there is bound to be regret at signing a player for that high a sum, despite his age being closer to that of retirement than prime.

As such, United could be ruing the chance of not signing Fabian Ruiz instead as he joined Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli back in 2022. Having said that, the player’s form in recent months has dramatically risen with there even being comparisons with Zinedine Zidane following his crucial role for Spain at Euro 2024.

He responded by saying the following when compared to the French legend via Mirror:

“It’s a big deal to compare myself to Zidane. I always try to help the team by giving my best and repay the coach’s trust. It’s a huge pride to represent my country. It’s the greatest thing.”

Ruiz is earning just £150k weekly at PSG, one-third of what Casemiro is being paid, and could have arrived at Old Trafford for a fee which would have possibly been half of the former Real Madrid star.

    https://twitter.com/FabianRP52/status/1812634810982060276

It also goes to show how oblivious Manchester United have been to players who have not had superstar status and that their recruitment strategy needs a big improvement. Ruiz is also an extremely versatile player, more so than Casemiro, and has the offensive skill sets which the Brazilian is expected to bring in, perhaps unfairly.

The theory that Casemiro has suddenly dipped in form and ambition is absolutely ridiculous considering how important he was to Real Madrid, where he won five Champions League titles. It goes on to expose the tactical frailties in Erik ten Hag’s system when a player who has never been asked to conduct play is tasked with doing such a job, especially when he has to do so from the deeper and more vulnerable areas of the pitch.

Manuel Ugarte’s integration into the team could alleviate some stress that Casemiro is facing at United or entirely cause him to lose his spot, but it is extremely undeserved for a midfielder of his calibre to receive the criticism which he has been subjected to.

According to Ali Naci Kucuk via X, a transfer rumour that has quickly caught the attention of football fans worldwide involves one of Manchester United’s defensive midfielders.

Widely regarded as one of the most skilled footballers to ever grace the game, the Brazilian star is currently enduring a challenging period, having become a focal point of criticism and scrutiny following United’s disastrous 3-0 loss to Liverpool.

Despite the club’s full backing of the former Real Madrid star, a peculiar rumour about his future is making waves, fueling speculation about what could be next for the embattled midfielder.

Galatasaray in talks with Manchester United to sign Casemiro

Galatasaray have reportedly opened talks with Manchester United to sign Casemiro on a loan deal for the rest of the season.

The legendary Brazilian midfielder, who recently faced significant backlash from United fans following his underwhelming performance against Liverpool, has emerged as one of the top targets for the Turkish giants as they look to bolster their midfield.

Casemiro, a five-time Champions League winner, began his Premier League journey with a high-profile move to Manchester United, joining the club for a hefty fee of €70.65 million from Real Madrid. Since then, he has made 87 appearances for the Red Devils, contributing 12 goals and nine assists.

Allowing Casemiro to leave could be one of Erik Ten Hag’s biggest mistakes—unless, of course, the 32-year-old himself is strongly inclined to move on. His departure would leave a significant gap in United’s midfield, and losing a player of his experience and caliber could have far-reaching consequences for the team’s aspirations this season.

Casemiro still has plenty to offer, and a player of his experience and caliber, if utilized with the right strategy, can be a tremendous asset for Manchester United as they aim to compete at the highest level throughout the season.

While Manuel Ugarte, seen as a potential successor to the former São Paulo star, has already arrived at Old Trafford, it’s important not to underestimate the incredible defensive skills and tactical intelligence that Casemiro brings to the table. His presence and leadership on the field are invaluable, and with the proper support and usage, he could continue to play a crucial role in United’s quest for success.

  • Ten Hag backs Manchester United star to ounce back following ‘tactical’ substitution vs Liverpool

Ten Hag backs Manchester United star to ounce back following ‘tactical’ substitution vs Liverpool

Following a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford against their arch-rivals Liverpool, Erik Ten Hag and his team are facing intense scrutiny from both fans and experts alike.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool side dominated the record Premier League winners on their own turf, with Colombian dynamo Luis Diaz netting two stunning goals, followed by a third from African legend Mohamed Salah.

United defender Casemiro found himself at the center of attention for all the wrong reasons in the first half. The former Madridista played a dreadful pass that led to Diaz’s opening goal and then lost possession again just five minutes later. The 32-year-old was substituted at halftime, with Toby Collyer stepping in for the second half.

United manager defends Casemiro amid sloppy show against Liverpool

Ten Hag announced Casemiro’s substitution after the first half against Liverpool as a ‘tactical move’, mentioning the aspects of the game dynamics. The former Ajax manager weighed in on the team’s demand of having strong legs in the midfield for passes against a team like Liverpool.

“It was tactical because we were 2-0 down. You know against Liverpool the midfield will be open, and you need legs. Therefore we brought a guy in, a young player, but he has legs, to keep the midfield closed.”

    beIN sports

The 54-year-old did not hold back from praising Casemiro despite his floppy show. He underscored his faith and admiration in the Brazilian midfielder bringing to light the stellar show that the former Real-Madrid footballer has brought to the ground in the past.

“We all have seen great moments from him and him being decisive in midfield. He will show that again and will bounce back

It was tactical because we were 2-0 down. You know against Liverpool the midfield will be open, and you need legs. Therefore we brought a guy in, a young player, but he has legs, to keep the midfield closed.”
    beIN sports

Casemiro, notably signed by the Red Devils in the 2022/23 season from Real Madrid, has been a key figure in the team. The defensive midfielder has made 87 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists.

However, his poor performance against Liverpool, which marked Manchester United’s second consecutive defeat in the ongoing Premier League season, has raised concerns. The English giants have now slipped to 14th in the points table, with just one victory (1-0 against Fulham) and two losses (2-1 against Brighton and 3-0 against Liverpool) from their first three games.

The dismal showing against Liverpool is a serious wake-up call for United. As the season progresses, they’ll need to significantly improve if they hope to compete at the top level, as the challenges ahead are only going to intensify.

£450,000 per week star negotiating Manchester United exit amidst Saudi interest

Casemiro’s agent to meet with Saudi Arabian sides to discuss Man United exit

Manchester United have exhausted most of their transfer budget on signing Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, which means any newcomer’s signing hinges on the club making sales.

Just the way Noussair Mazraoui’s arrival is dependent on whether Aaron Wan-Bissaka signs for West Ham or not, a free transfer for Adrien Rabiot is also likely to fall in place subject to Casemiro’s departure.

As it stands, the Brazilian’s stay at Old Trafford is costing United a delay in getting Rabiot’s deal over the line whereas his involvement in pre-season in the United States has not exactly helped the club’s cause either.

There were a number of Saudi Arabian sides which had declared interest in him and met Manchester United’s representatives too, but only Al Ahli and Al Qadsiah have shown keenness to progress further with discussions. Casemiro earns a ridiculous £450,000 per week at Man Utd and the club would want to get him off their books.

As per TEAMTalk’s Rudy Galetti, Casemiro’s agent is expected to imminently sit down with the two clubs with the aim of resolving the midfielder’s future once and for all in the upcoming days.

Manchester United have set an asking price of close to €35 million for the former Real Madrid star, though their main priority would be to clear off his wage liability to accommodate Rabiot into the squad.

Opinion: How could Erik ten Hag line-up with Manchester United for the first game of pre-season?

Here is how Manchester United could line up against Rosenborg in their first pre-season friendly

The 2023/24 was a season to forget for Manchester United and their fans. They were eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage and finished eighth in the league—their worst-ever finish in the Premier League era. As a result, Erik ten Hag was under immense pressure heading into the FA Cup final against cross-town rivals Manchester City in May.

The odds were heavily stacked against Erik ten Hag and his side but they surprised almost everyone by beating their noisy neighbours 2-1 in the FA Cup final. A disastrous campaign was salvaged to some extent with the FA Cup triumph, although that did little to ease the pressure on Ten Hag.

After running a thorough end-of-the-season review, new co-owners INEOS came to the conclusion of sticking with Ten Hag as the manager. The Dutchman, whose current terms were about to expire next year, signed an extension at the club until the summer of 2026.

    https://twitter.com/ManUtd/status/1810631232352661926

Under the new structure at Manchester United that has witnessed fresh executive appointments—including the timely stepping in of Dan Ashworth as the new sporting director and the hiring of Christopher Vivell as the temporary director of global talent—Ten Hag’s position has changed from a manager to a head coach. This continuity in leadership is pivotal as the 20-time English champions address changes on and off the field as well as strategic signings needed to strengthen the squad.

With less than a week away for the pre-season tour to begin, Manchester United players reported to Carrington on Monday morning. Ten Hag’s squad will return in batches over the next few weeks, with those fulfilling international commitments set to follow later.

The Dutchman’s side are set to travel to Norway for their first pre-season friendly against Rosenborg on July 15 before facing Rangers at Murrayfield five days later. The Man United squad then jet off for the United States tour where they will come up against Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool.

Manchester United players who returned on Monday included Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Antony, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof. It is expected that Ten Hag will stick to his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation in the opening games of pre-season, although he may experiment with new formations depending on new signings and availability of players.

Our Predicted Manchester United lineup vs Rosenborg (4-2-3-1)

    Goalkeeper—Andre Onana

After David de Gea was released last summer, Man United splashed £47.2m to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan. It wasn’t smooth sailing in his debut season at Old Trafford as Onana produced error-strewn displays in goal. His performances did improve to a certain extent during the second half of the campaign, with the Cameroonian playing a key role in his side’s FA Cup final win over City.

Having taken a season to adjust to the demands of Premier League football, Onana should come good this season. He is a certainty to start in goal for Man United against Rosenborg.

    Left-back—Harry Amass

Harry Amass has gone from strength to strength since signing the club from Watford in 2023 and is widely regarded as one of the best young English talents in the game right now. He was around the first-team fringes last season but didn’t make his senior debut. Now with Luke Shaw away on international duty and Tyrell Malacia continuing his rehabilitation on a serious knee injury, the teenager has a chance to stake his claim at left-back.

    Centre-back—Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire has seen his future at Man United grow increasingly uncertain over recent seasons. The 31-year-old was unlucky to miss out on a place in the England squad due to an injury. However, he seems to have recovered from his injury and should start against Rosenborg.

With the club committed to signing a centre-back or two this summer, Maguire would look to impress his boss with a clean performance in the first pre-season friendly.

Manchester United star Harry Maguire has recovered from his injury and should be available for the pre-season.

    Centre-back—Victor Lindelof

Victor Lindelof struggled with injuries across the 2023/24 season. He is into the final year of his contract and the Red Devils are open to listen to offers for him, especially with the club actively pursuing new centre-backs.

With Raphael Varane released, Jonny Evans injured and Lisandro Martinez away with Argentina for the Copa America, the Swede looks likely to partner Maguire in central defence.

    Right-back—Aaron Wan-Bissaka

With Diogo Dalot away on vacation after Portugal’s elimination at the hands of France in the 2024 Euros’ quarter-finals last week, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the only senior right-back at Ten Hag’s disposal. Wan-Bissaka is expected to start in his natural position, even though he was largely used as a left-back in the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia during the second half of the campaign.

    Defensive midfield—Casemiro

Casemiro’s second season at Old Trafford was plagued with injuries. He failed to make a significant impact and the club are now ready to move on the Brazilian this summer to free up their wage bill. Having reported for training on Monday, though, he should be expected to start in his preferred role against Rosenborg.

    Central midfield—Hannibal Mejbri

Hannibal Mejbri is back to the club after a hugely underwhelming loan spell with Sevilla. His stock has seemingly gone down after his wretched time in Spain, and if he is planning to move away from Old Trafford in search of regular game time, pre-season fixtures should give him opportunities to catch the attention of clubs across the continent.

Mason Mount We All Follow United
Mason Mount will be eager to prove his worth at Man United.

    Left-wing—Amad Diallo

Amad Diallo took time to get back to speed after spending several months on the sidelines due to an injury. The Ivorian was given opportunities at the back end of last season which he took with both hands. Back in training, Amad will look to catch the eye with his trickery, movement and dribbling skills.

    Central attacking midfield—Mason Mount

A lot of buzz was created when Mason Mount swapped Chelsea for Man United last summer. However, constant injury problems ruined his debut season in Manchester. Now fully fit, the England international will be raring to shine for our club and nail down a spot in Ten Hag’s first XI.

    Right-wing—Antony

After back-to-back underwhelming campaigns, Antony’s time at the club remains under serious doubt. This could be the last chance saloon for the diminutive Brazilian. He will be hoping to make a mark in the pre-season and fight for his spot under Ten Hag.

    More Manchester United News-

    Striker—Marcus Rashford

Much like many of his teammates, Marcus Rashford had an ordinary 2023/24 campaign. This led to him not being picked in the England squad for the 2024 Euros. The England snub for a major tournament should be enough to motivate our No.10 and prove his detractors wrong.

With Rasmus Hojlund having gone for an extended break following international commitments, Rashford should lead Man United’s attack against Rosenborg.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Manchester United are planning to let veteran superstar ‘admired’ by Busquets go

Manchester United are planning to offload Casemiro in order to sign a new midfielder

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Casemiro leaving Manchester United this summer remains a ‘concrete possibility’.

Casemiro arrived from Real Madrid in 2022 and made a positive impression in his first season at Old Trafford, helping Erik ten Hag’s side win the EFL Cup and achieve a third-place finish in the Premier League. He registered seven goals and as many assists in 53 appearances across all competitions in a successful maiden season in English football.

However, the Brazilian defensive midfielder endured an injury-hit past season which directly affected his performance levels on the pitch. Due to a combination of muscle and hamstring problems, the 32-year-old managed only 32 appearances across all competitions. Casemiro’s subpar displays when fit didn’t aid Manchester United’s cause, as Ten Hag and Co. finished eighth in the Premier League.

    https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1810053111987208456

Fabrizio Romano has now taken to his official X account to reveal that Casemiro’s camp are still in touch with Saudi Pro League clubs to discuss contractual terms, with the Red Devils open to offloading him from their books to sign a new midfielder.

“Casemiro’s exit from Manchester United remains concrete possibility for this summer,” Romano tweeted.

“Saudi Pro League clubs are still in contact with his camp to discuss terms, as reported back in April/May.

“Man United are open to letting him leave in order to bring in new midfielder.”

Indeed, Casemiro’s star waned this past season, especially due to injury problems. The defensive midfielder was not as effective as he was in his first year at the club and looked well off the pace in the Premier League. Due to an injury crisis at the back, he also operated as a makeshift centre-back but his form saw no change. He made errors on the ball and with his decision-making off it which made him a liability to Ten Hag’s side at one point.

As a result, INEOS are planning to move on Casemiro this summer although he is under contract until 2026 with an option for a further year. Given that he is 32, past his prime and the club’s highest earner on an exorbitant £350,000 per week, it makes complete sense to get rid of him and invest in a younger, mobile defensive midfielder this summer. Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets revealed in an interview that he ‘admires’ Casemiro.

The veteran defensive midfielder has since been linked with a move away from United, with Saudi Arabia being touted as his likeliest destination as United try to cut their losses on the £70m investment they made in him two seasons ago.

Casemiro is currently United’s highest-paid player, earning £350,000 per week from a contract set to run until June 2026.

A kit we may never see Casemiro play in

It is true that we have to accept the reality that we may never see the hot-and-cold-blowing Casemiro play for United again, especially in what many would call a hot-and-cold-blowing home kit for next season.

The equation for Casemiro remains the same as it was at the end of May: he has not become as bad a player all of a sudden as many would have you believe; he could still do a job for United.

£70m Manchester United superstar’s Saudi Arabia deal ‘falls through’ after mixed season

Mixed performances from last season might’ve stopped Manchester United superstar’s Saudi Arabia deal

As reported by Christopher Michelis (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United superstar, Casemiro’s Saudi Arabia deal ‘fell through’ a few days ago. It is being reported that negotiations were at an advanced stage but things didn’t work out.

Manchester United paid £70m for the Brazilian midfielder back in 2022. Since then Casemiro has had one successful campaign with them. However, his performance this past season left a lot to be desired.

Now at 32, it is hard to see the Brazilian improving and going back to the player he used to be. A deal with a Saudi Arabia side would’ve been the ideal scenario for Manchester United however, that avenue seems shut now.

Teams from the Saudi Pro League are the few who were willing to pay Manchester United midfielder, Casemiro’s fee and meet his wage demands. With them out of the picture, the Red Devils will have a tough time moving the Brazilian.

With the way he’s been playing lately, a lucrative offer for Casemiro seems sort of unrealistic. However, United needs to figure something out because his wages are way too high for the sort of player he is now.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of approach Manchester United will take now that Casemiro’s staying at Old Trafford has become a real possibility.

A Real Madrid reunion could be in the works for Manchester United superstar Casemiro and Cristiano Ronaldo

As reported by Give Me Sport, Al-Nassr are interested in signing Manchester United superstar, Casemiro for a deal worth £35m, if done the Brazilian would be reuniting with Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Casemiro will require some persuasion.

The Brazilian midfielder hasn’t yet decided whether he is ready to move on or not. A part of Casemiro’s decision depends on what kind of role Erik ten Hag will have him play next season. This past season the Brazilian made 32 appearances for United.

He picked up a knock during the early stages of the season that led to him being on the sidelines for 15 games. When he did play Casemiro spent most of his time playing as a DM but had to make a cameo at CB because of the team’s injury struggles.

Casemiro recorded just eight goal contributions for United last season which is a step down from his level. If he stays in Europe for another season, clubs in Saudi might not be waiting for him with a ridiculous offer in hand.

Until the Brazilian feels completely confident that he could contribute to success at Old Trafford he should consider moving on. If he does, it would be his second reunion with Manchester United legend, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The two spent years winning trophies at Real Madrid, then came together for a short stint with the Red Devils. Now, Casemiro could be on his way to Al-Nassr this summer making it his third time with Cristiano Ronaldo.
