Manchester United could sign Raheem Sterling if City’s UCL ban is upheld
According to the Independent, Manchester United could make a move for Raheem Sterling if Manchester City’s UCL ban is upheld.
It is a name near the top of United’s analytics team as they scour for summer targets.
The English international transitioned from a promising prospect at Liverpool to a world-class winger at City under Pep Guardiola. A key member of the Blues squad, he has scored 89 goals and 72 assists in 230 games. (h/t Transfermarkt)
It is very unlikely to expect a player to quit Etihad for Old Trafford. Recent success has seen the rivalry between the clubs peak and is today one of English football’s showpiece events.
However, should an opportunity present itself, United will be keen to take full advantage of it.
With City having been banned for two years from European football, the future of a number of their stars has been called into question. The clamours regarding the topic will only increase if the ban is upheld.
Such a situation will see United go for the flying winger. Real Madrid too are keen on Sterling and will present the biggest obstacle. Sterling had earlier claimed that it would be an honour to don the famous white shirt. (h/t BBC)
