Barcelona are looking to get their hands on a Manchester United midfielder this summer

As reported by Spanish publication Fichajes, Barcelona have their eyes set on Manchester United midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat. Atletico Madrid are also considered serious candidates to sign the Morrocan.

The 27-year-old has been having a terrible season with the Red Devils. So far, Amrabat has made 22 appearances without recording a single goal or assist. His bad form has even made Erik ten Hag a little reluctant to call on him.

During United’s last few games, the Morrocan has either played garbage minutes or has been warming the bench. Before his move to Old Trafford, there was some talk suggesting that Amrabat is a big fan of Barcelona.

Now, it seems like the Catalan club could come knocking. However, Amrabat will be a Man United player till the end of the season. The Red Devils have a £21.4m buy option for him but it will likely not be activated.

After the terrible season that Amrabat has had, there aren’t a lot of teams who would consider paying £21.4m for him. Which begs the question, why does FC Barcelona want to sign the 27-year-old?

Well, the Spanish giants have had a ton of injury issues this season which has exposed their lack of depth. If they do end up signing Amrabat it will likely be to reinforce their bench.
