Manchester United and Man City are set to fight it out for 21-year-old English defender

As reported by The Daily Mail, Manchester United and Man City are all set to fight it out for 21-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite. The English defender has been putting on a show this season garnering interest from multiple top-flight clubs.

Branthwaite stands tall at 1.95m, from his frame, one could deduce that his body was made for defence. This stands true when you see him in action. The 21-year-old rarely ever loses any duels and his work rate is admirable.

Manchester United would greatly benefit from adding him to their lineup. Moreover, the team seems ready to move on from Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire, which could mean that they’re making space for new defenders.

However, Man City will not make it easy for their local rivals. Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Branthwaite and wants to see him playing at the Emirates Stadium. Real Madrid are also in the mix and wants to him to Spain.

This summer will see a big battle unfold for the 27-year-old. Fans believe that Branthwaite is extremely comfortable in the Premier League and could look towards Spain for a new challenge. However, his career is still young so that might not be the case.

Apart from being a stellar defender, the 27-year-old is also a threat to score. He is often the tallest player during set pieces and his losing an aerial battle is a rare sight.
