Bruno Fernandes was quick to praise his teammate Casemiro after Man United beat Sheffield United in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

A by-no-means-perfect performance at Old Trafford saw the Red Devils go behind twice against the Blades only to come back both times and ultimately settle the game in the last ten minutes of regular time.

Casemiro played at centre-back alongside Harry Maguire because of United’s current injury-ridden defence catalogue, and despite not getting a clean sheet was impressive individually as he completed most passes in the game with an 87% accuracy and won all his aerial duels. (Source: FotMob)

Casemiro earned a 7.2 rating from FotMob for his individual performance against Sheffield United.

The veteran Brazilian put out a post on Instagram after the game, and his captain was quick to acknowledge the good work he did at the back.

Fernandes' comment under Casemiro's post connotes "my centre-back" in Portuguese.

The result changes little for either United outfit, however, with Man United sufficiently away from the Champions League spots and Sheffield United already preparing for life in the Championship next season.

A clumsy performance, but a win nonetheless

It was further worrying for the onlookers that Man United went behind twice in the game against arguably one of the worst sides in recent Premier League history.

But at least they were able to successfully mount a comeback, thanks in no small part to their captain, who led from the front.
