Manchester United open talks with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
According to Foot Mercato (h/t Mirror), Manchester United have opened talks with the representatives of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The dynamic Serbian is seen as a replacement for United star Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
The Serbian is one of Lazio’s best players as Simone Inzaghi’s side mount a spirited title challenge to dethrone Juventus. The 25-year-old scored five goals and seven assists in 31 appearances for the Italians before the season was suspended.
Plenty of fans
There will, however, be considerable competition to land the player. European heavyweights such as Juventus, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint Germain are also keeping tabs on the 25-year-old.
Savic is contracted to the Italians until 2024 and the club have set an asking price of £87million for the player.
Our main hurdle could prove to be Paris Saint-Germain, who are ready to pay the required fee. The club’s director, Leonardo, is a big fan of the midfielder and is ready to make his move.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito had earlier revealed that they would be open to the sale of their star provided they receive an offer that meets their valuation.
A powerhouse of a presence in the middle of the park, Savic is a complete player who will be a daunting presence in the United midfield.
United signed Bruno Fernandes in January and the Portuguese midfielder has hit the ground running. The addition of another world-class player alongside the Portuguese will only make us stronger.
The midfield looks to be the focus of attention this summer. United have also been linked to Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish and Leicester City star James Maddison. (h/t Mirror)
