Brighton boss Graham Potter keen to take Manchester United star Daniel James on loan

According to The Sun, Brighton and Hove Albion manager, Graham Potter is keen to take Manchester United star Daniel James on loan in January.

The Seagulls are an excellent side who play exciting football. However, they have been unable to see off games and are currently locked in a battle to escape relegation.

Potter is familiar with James, having coached him at Swansea City in the 2018/19 campaign. The Welsh star scored 5 goals and made 10 assists in 38 games that season. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The 23-year-old enjoyed an excellent start to life at United. He scored thrice in his first four Premier League games as he instantly shone for the club.

He has however failed to hit the same heights since. So far, he has made a total of 52 appearances, scoring five goals and assisting seven. (h/t Transfermarkt)

With just six appearances this season. James is struggling for game time at United. This has given Potter enough reason to seek a loan switch for the winger.

Potter was keen on taking James on loan last season. However, United did not relent. The player is keen to gain more game time in the lead-up to next summer’s Euros and could welcome the chance of playing more under a manager who knows to get the best out of him. (h/t The Daily Mail)

Brighton is not the only Premier League team in for James. Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United are also keeping tabs on the 23-year-old. (h/t Wales Online)

James appears to be lacking confidence at the moment and a temporary move away would best suit all parties at this point in time.

The player for his part is keen to stay at United for the remainder of the season. Whether he will change his mind in the coming weeks remains to be seen.

In Potter, he has a manager who encourages an attacking setup. A fresh start could be the best solution for all parties.
