Amad Diallo gets Italian passport ahead of Manchester United switch
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have received a boost in their efforts to complete the signing of Amad Diallo in January.
The 18-year-old has been granted an Italian passport ahead of the January transfer window. United are now hopeful that the youngster will be given a work permit to travel to Manchester in the new year.
Diallo is one of the best young talents to come out of Atalanta in recent years. He looked to be on his way to Parma in the summer before Untied swooped in to sign him.
United moved for the winger after a summer of fruitless chasing of Jadon Sancho. Diallo has a high ceiling and there is real hope he could develop into a sensational player for us.
The Red Devils have been aware of Diallo’s talents for some time now. United have kept a keen eye on the player’s development since encountering him in 2016 in an U-15 match.
With the United Kingdom being a member of the European Union, English clubs can sign foreign players above the age of 16 with a European passport. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
Thankfully, it would appear that the new post-Brexit criteria will not apply to this deal as it will be concluded before the ‘transition period’. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
Diallo was one of two wonderkids we signed on the summer deadline day. The other was Uruguayan starlet Facundo Pellistri.

Diallo cost United am impressive £37.2m and could develop into one of the best players. What role he will hold upon his arrival at the club remains to be seen.
Given his age and lack of experience outside Italy, it would serve us well to ease him into the side rather than throw him at the business end.
