Manchester United look set to sign Moises Caicedo in January

A report by Daily Record (h/t Mirror) states that Manchester United may just have won the race to sign Ecuadorian wonderkid Moises Caicedo.

The 19-year-old Ecuadorian recently expressed his ambition to “one day be in the elite of world football”. He also went on to state that Manchester United are his “favourite club”.

And now, Manchester United are reportedly after the young central-midfielder. Ed Woodward has opened talks to bring him to Old Trafford in January.

The 19-year-old joined Independiente del Valle in his home country at the start of this year. Despite being a central midfielder by trade, he has still managed 6 goals in his 27 appearances for the club in 2020. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The Ecuadorian prodigy is said to model his game on N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba. He can play as a box-to-box midfielder and also as a defensive midfielder.

Manchester United are not the only club after his signature. West Ham are expected to rival the Red Devils for his signature. However, it is United who have taken the first step towards signing him as Woodward has opened discussions for a possible move next month. (h/t Mirror)

Caicedo, if signed, will be the second Ecuadorian player in history to play for Manchester United. The first, Antonio Valencia, departed Old Trafford last year after a 10-year stay at the club.
