Manchester United winger Daniel James a part of Solskjaer’s plans amid PL interest

According to The Athletic, Manchester United winger Daniel James has been told by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he remains a part of his plans amid interest from Premier League clubs.

James signed for Manchester United in the summer of 2019 from Swansea City and enjoyed a fine start to life at Old Trafford, scoring on his debut. The 23-year-old carried on in a similar vein of form for a while longer before his form took a nosedive.

That, coupled with the emergence of Mason Greenwood, meant that James found regular starts hard to come by over the past year or so. With the 20-time English champions then signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer, it almost seemed like the writing was on the wall for the Wales international.

Given the situation, there were a number of Premier League clubs like Leeds United, Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion lining up to sign him if he became available, as per the report from The Athletic. In fact, it has been claimed that the Foxes even made an enquiry for the Welsh speedster.

However, James is all set to stay put at Old Trafford for the season, with manager Solskjaer informing the 23-year-old remains a big part of the plans moving forward in a meeting two weeks ago, the report adds.

James started our first game of the season against Leeds United, ahead of Sancho. And while he did not make a huge impression, there was some promise in his display.

To date, the 23-year-old has made 73 appearances for Manchester United, scoring and assisting nine goals apiece. With Marcus Rashford out on the sidelines, it is the right move by Solskjaer to hold on to James, as squad depth will be critical with United competing on four fronts.
