Alan Shearer impressed by Manchester United attacking prowess

Speaking on Match of the Day (h/t MEN), Premier League legend Alan Shearer claimed that he can see a marked improvement in the way Manchester United attack.

Sheffield United became the latest team to fall to the Red Devils as they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford. Anthony Martial was the hero of the day as he struck a well-taken hat-trick.

Others such as Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Paul Pogba too were involved in an excellent performance brimming with imagination and verve.

Shearer, speaking after the game, said that United now commit more players to attack than before. (h/t MEN)

“There are definitely big improvements, particularly going forward in the number of players they were committing.”

The Newcastle legend observed that at times United had five to six attackers pressing the Sheffield players. Given our pace, winning back the ball high up will leave us in an advantageous position.

Shearer also was full of praise for Martial who took his opportunities with aplomb. However, he was not the only United player in the box, giving us a number of options to aim for.

“Look at the men they’ve got in the box ready to finish it off. If it doesn’t fall to Martial there it goes to someone else.”

The assertion was particularly true in the case of our second goal. The third on the other hand showcased the vision of Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese star threaded through the ball to Martial who finished calmly for his first hat-trick in English football.
