Fred set for new terms at Manchester United

According to the Sun, Manchester United star Fred is all set to extend his stay at the club.

It displays a remarkable turnaround for the Brazilian who was seen as a flop not too long ago. United beat rivals Manchester City for the midfielder in the summer of 2018.

The 27-year-old endured a rough start to his life at Old Trafford. An inability to replicate his form from Shakhtar Donetsk saw him struggle to make an impact in the United line-up.

To his credit, he has turned his fortunes around this season. The Brazilian has made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting four. (h/t Transfermarkt)

In the absence of Paul Pogba, the Samba star has become one of the first players on the teamsheet.

According to the report, he now wants a rise in wages along with fresh incentives if his side qualifies for the Champions League. He earns £130,000-a-week on his current deal at United.

The Red Devils are in no hurry to hand Fred a contract extension. With time left on his current deal, it is understandable. The club is, however, expected to get the ball rolling before the end of the year.

United have two avenues to qualify for the Champions League this season. Not only can we usurp Chelsea to the fourth spot but also gain access to Europe’s premier competition by winning the Europa League.

The Red Devils already have one foot in the quarter-finals of the competition. We last won the trophy in 2016.
