Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United are set to announce Christian Eriksen as his lawyers verify the paperwork

According to reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United are set to announce Christian Eriksen as their new signing as the lawyers are currently verifying the paperwork. He is in line to become the former’s second arrival of this summer transfer window.

Eriksen has decided to join Man United on a free transfer this summer. He has confirmed his stance to the other interested parties involved as Erik ten Hag played a major role in the midfielder’s choice. The former Tottenham Hotspur star is nearing the competition of his move to Old Trafford right now.

The lawyers involved in this deal are checking the contracts for it to be signed so that Eriksen can officially be announced as a new signing. He will pen the three-year proposal that has been put on the table by the Red Devils as part of the new project they are building under ten Hag.

What a signing indeed!

Eriksen’s arrival would gladly be welcomed by the supporters, as they saw their team undergo a massive exodus in midfield. The loss of Paul Pogba and Juan Mata would have left a gaping hole in terms of the players who can instil creativity from midfield.

Eriksen, who has earned a name for unlocking stubborn defences with his immense quality, would greatly help us deal with teams who play in a low-block which is something we struggled with last season. Furthermore, the Dane could also bring some much-needed experience to our team as we lack players who fall into that category.

Furthermore, one could also say that perhaps the 30-year-old’s transfer could also help us convince Cristiano Ronaldo to stay beyond this summer. After all, the prospect of Eriksen feeding Ronaldo with opportunities is exciting to think about, which may just play a part in reversing Ronaldo’s decision to leave ahead of the next campaign.

The ex-Spurs ace’s signing would also ensure that there is healthy competition in midfield, which would force other players to do their best. Bruno Fernandes, for example, struggled throughout the entire season last time around, but he can no longer be guaranteed a spot.

The former Brentford superstar’s arrival would prompt Fernandes to be on alert at all times if he hopes to keep his starting spot. Moreover, we would also have enough depth in midfield to keep players fresh throughout the entire season, especially since ten Hag can use five substitutions per game from here on out.

The fans would hope to see Eriksen play a part in the pre-season friendlies that are set to begin in the coming days. Whether he will be officially announced before that or not, though, remains to be seen in due time.
