Manchester United deny making contact with Paulo Dybala over a summer transfer
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have firmly denied links stating that they have made contact with Paulo Dybala regarding a potential transfer move. His future is up for grabs at this moment which has resulted in him getting touted to join the English club this summer.
Dybala is currently out of contract after seeing his contract expire with Juventus at the end of the last month. He was expected to join Inter Milan, but that has not materialised due to various reasons. Romelu Lukaku’s loan move from Chelsea has played a part in leading to this situation.
Furthermore, Inter are also troubled by their financially stricken situation, which caused claims suggesting that Man United have held talks with Dybala’s entourage. However, the club’s sources have played down these links and conveyed that their focus is currently on convincing Cristiano Ronaldo to stay beyond this transfer window.
Man Utd need Dybala?
Ronaldo’s future with the Red Devils has caused havoc within the fanbase as the supporters are concerned about the lack of quality in the frontline. That would be made worse by Cristiano’s potential exit, as he has expressed his intent to depart ahead of the upcoming season.
It does make sense how we are currently focused on convincing the Portuguese talisman to remain with us. However, we must also prepare for a worst-case scenario so that we can deal with a situation in which Ronaldo would eventually leave in the summer transfer window.
While Dybala is not a like-for-like replacement, he could take on the Dusan Tadic for Erik ten Hagat Old Trafford. After all, Tadic used to play as a false nine for the then-Ajax manager and perhaps ten Hag could look to replicate that with the Argentine international.
Dybala, at his best, is a great option for sure, as his ability to create opportunities while being a goalscoring threat makes him world-class indeed. However, his inability to keep himself fit in recent years, coupled with inconsistency at times, are some of the drawbacks of the Argentinian.

Another problem the 28-year-old has is his tendency to shoot as he wishes rather than looking for clear-cut opportunities. If we can acquire his services on a reasonable wage package after accounting for his injury issues, then Dybala could prove to be of great benefit indeed.
That is if ten Hag can help Dybala to refine his game to an extent and be more effective in the process. One could argue that the South American should be signed regardless of Ronaldo’s outcome, as he could be a suitable option to solve our issues on the right-wing as well.
