Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United target Christian Eriksen set to make future decision shortly

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano on TwitterChristian Eriksen, who is a target for Manchester United, is set to make a final decision on his future shortly. He is being subjected to a transfer tussle between various Premier League sides who are eager to add him to their ranks for the next campaign.

Eriksen is set to be out of contract on June 30, when his short-term deal with Brentford expires this summer. The Bees are interested in keeping hold of him beyond this summer and are currently in the race to convince him about staying with them, with Man United being their competitors.

The Red Devils have registered their interest in the Dane and have confirmed their intentions to his agent. The attacking midfielder is stated to be in line to make a final decision on his future soon enough. Tottenham have also been pursuing him as they look to reinforce their midfield this summer.

Eriksen to boost Man Utd midfield?

The departures of Paul Pogba and Juan Mata have left a gaping hole in our midfield, which means that we lack players who can instil some creativity into the team. As such, there is a desperation to search for options that can meet our needs ahead of the upcoming season.

Eriksen can certainly be that man as he is well known for breaking down stubborn defences with his ability to pick out teammates and break down opposition backlines. Question marks over him following his cardiac arrest have been swept aside by the midfielder with his excellent displays for club and country.

As such, it is not surprising to see the Manchester club actively vying to get hold of the 30-year-old to improve Erik ten Hag’s options for the next campaign. Tottenham seemed to be our major competition at one point as they are in a better place than us right now.

Spurs can offer Champions League football, while the prospect of returning to N17 made them look like an obvious choice for Eriksen. In fact, choosing them would also provide the maestro with the opportunity to reunite with his former manager Antonio Conte.

Fortunately for us, it appears to be that the North Londoners are no longer actively chasing Eriksen this summer. That is because Romano has revealed that their priorities lie elsewhere at the moment, with right-back, centre-back and centre-forward being their point of focus right now.

Hence, we must use this chance to our advantage and finalise a move for Eriksen this summer. Thomas Frank’s side would be our only competitor, but perhaps the prospect of playing for a bigger club could lend us a hand in convincing him to move to Carrington.
