Transfer News: Christian Eriksen is set to make a future decision amidst links to Manchester United
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Mirror), Brentford midfielder Christian Eriksen is set to make a decision on his future in the coming days amidst links to Newcastle United, Tottenham and Manchester United.
Eriksen joined Brentford in the January transfer window on a free transfer as he looked to get his playing career back on track after the unfortunate cardiac arrest that he suffered whilst playing for Denmark in the Euros.
The former Tottenham Hotspur star has impressed during his time with the Bees. The talented playmaker played 11 times for the London-based club last season, scoring one goal and providing four assists across all competitions.
The former Inter Milan man is yet to renew his contract with Brentford with interest from elsewhere in the Premier League. Having signed just a six-month deal with the Bees, Eriksen is set to be available for free and Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle United are all interested in the player.
Best comeback story?
Anyone who had seen the tragic incident unfold during the time in the Euros back last year would have never expected Christian Eriksen to return to the footballing pitch again.
Yet, the Danish superstar is back playing football in arguably one of the strongest leagues and is back with a bang. The 30-year-old has made a sensational return to football and if anything, returned better than before.
At his best, the former Tottenham man is a world-class player as he has shown us many times during his spell at Spurs he could still add a lot to any team that decides to sign him for next season.
Christian Eriksen’s return to football is one of the best comeback stories to ever exist and we hope it will continue in the same vein for many years to come. The Dane might feel that he is ready for the big step to one of the big boys and it remains to be seen if that materialises.
