Transfer News: Liverpool are ready to jump ahead of Manchester United in race to sign Brighton star Yves Bissouma
According to the latest transfer news provided by journalist Ekrem Konur (h/t Sports Mole), Manchester United could trail in the race to sign Brighton star Yves Bissouma as Liverpool are ready with an offer.
The Mali international has been a revelation for Graham Potter’s side ever since he made the move in 2018. Since being promoted back to the first division, the midfielder has been a vital part of helping the club avoid relegation and facilitating an attractive style of play.
Manchester United were said to be interested in the 24-year-old earlier this summer as they were looking to add to their star-studded squad.
The Red Devils already possess the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, Nemanja Matic, Fred, and Scott McTominay in their ranks, but a box-to-box young midfielder would have added a lot of quality.
Additionally, Nemanja Matic will enter the final year of his current contract next summer, and bringing in another player in that role would be a clever move. Several clubs, besides United, were linked with the Brighton man earlier this summer, but the Seagulls managed to keep him at the club.
However, United may now be pipped in the race to sign him. Bitter rivals Liverpool are prepared to offer £30million for the Mali midfielder as they look to add an energetic player to the fold.

This would come as a huge blow for the Red Devils as this would strengthen a title rival and eliminate any chances of signing him in the future. However, while the Reds are ready with an offer, the Manchester-based club would be hoping that the Amex outfit decline it, thereby keeping United still in contention to secure his signature.
