Manchester United are ready to take advantage of the financial difficulties at Barcelona and sign Ousmane Dembele
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t Mirror), Manchester United are set to take advantage of the financial turmoil at Barcelona and swoop in for the signing of Ousmane Dembele.
The 24-year-old winger joined the Blaugrana club back in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund. Although the Cules received a sufficient sum of money from the sale of Neymar that summer, Dembele did not come cheap either.
The Catalan outfit signed him on a deal that could rise to a staggering £110million. However, things have not gone to plan for the Frenchman and he is now in the final 12 months of his current deal at the club.
Although president Joan Laporta has previously confirmed that they are keen on keeping him at the club at least until 2024, financial problems may prove to be an obstacle. In fact, the Catalan giants have been ‘unsuccessful’ in getting the winger to put pen to paper on a new deal so far.
In such a scenario, United are ready to acquire the winger’s services as they are said to be interested in a move for the 24-year-old.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who already possess the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, and Jesse Lingard in the winger role, could add yet another player to the fold.

Anthony Martial’s future at the club is filled with uncertainty, while Jesse Lingard might leave on a free transfer at the end of this season. Thus, if the two stars do leave the club, there will be a lot of space on the wage bill, which could be used to accommodate Dembele.
After 51 goal involvements in 118 games for Barcelona, United may lure the winger to Old Trafford as they look to compete for the biggest silverware under Solskjaer.
