Ole Gunnar Solskjaer effusive in his praise of Manchester United duo Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo
According to the club’s official website, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised the clinical nature shown by Manchester United duo Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo in finding the back of the net.
Both veterans joined the club in the last two summers and despite their age have proven invaluable to the club’s attack. Cavani was United’s top-scoring forward last season and Ronaldo has already scored twice in his first game since returning.
The clinical ability shown by the duo could make the difference when it comes to the business end of the season. Solskajer recognizes the potency of the duo and has made it clear as to what he thinks of them.
“Edinson and Cristiano are notorious goalscorers and they have that sense and feeling of when to arrive in the box and what can happen.”
Solskjaer was quick to point out that the duo’s experience has served them well. While many of their goals could be dismissed as being at the right place at the right time, it is a trait made easy by the veterans of the game.
“People will say it’s a tap-in but there’s more to it than that. You’ve got defenders watching, but he’s anticipating that rebound.”
Even when he is not scoring, Ronaldo is making a massive impact on the field helping others thrive. United’s fourth goal against Newcastle was proof of just that. The 36-year-old’s movement ensured Jesse Lingard was left unmarked to add the finishing touches.
“I think the last goal was a brilliant example of Cristiano going to the back stick and opening up that space for Anthony [Martial] and Jesse to combine in the middle.”
A scorer of important goals during his time, Solskjaer is well aware of what it takes to become an ace marksman. To see him compliment Cavani and Ronaldo for the same is a testament to their accomplishment in the game.
The duo may be ageing but still, have it in them to compete at the highest level. Hopefully, their efforts will bear fruits this season.
