Manchester United star Marcus Rashford sends a message to injured Liverpool wonderkid Harvey Elliott
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is a man who speaks out his mind and often for the right reasons. He took to Twitter earlier today following the events of the Leeds United vs Liverpool match.
The Merseysiders dominated proceedings at Elland Road, winning 3-0 on the night. While it was admittedly an excellent performance at a tough venue, youngster Harvey Elliott’s injury took the sheen off the triumph.
The youngster, starting his third game in a row went down following a tackle by Pascal Struijk. Elliott was stretched off and the Leeds star received his marching orders.
A prospect for not just Liverpool but also England, Elliott’s injury was a difficult sight to view for any football fan let alone one who supports the Reds. Rashford too appears to have taken a similar line of thought and broke club loyalties to make his point.
He admits the injury was not something he would have liked to see and sent his best wishes to the Liverpool star. We hope that is the case and he makes a quick recovery.
Rashford’s tweet was met with mixed emotions by a number of fans. While some lauded his approach, others were less than happy with him speaking out about a rival.
Our rivalry with Liverpool is the biggest in England and there will be no quarter given when both teams take to the field. Irrespective of that, it was a classy gesture from Rashford.
