According to the Express, Sir Alex Ferguson has outlined the expectations he has of Cristiano Ronaldo following his return to Manchester United.

The 36-year-old shocked the footballing world by returning to Old Trafford from Juventus. He made his second debut against Newcastle United on Saturday, scoring twice in a 4-1 win.

It was the perfect way for Ronaldo to announce himself to a packed Old Trafford audience. Ferguson was one of the names looking on, watching the Portuguese maestro work his magic.

The legendary manager played his role in enduring the 36-year-old ended up at Old Trafford. Now that it has come to pass, he expects him to have an excellent impact in the season to come.

He believes Ronaldo’s presence will have a positive effect on the players around him especially the younger ones. One of the greatest players to ever grace the football field, it is not every day that one gets to play alongside a legend of the game.

“I think he will make an impact on the young players in particular, he’s got the experience to handle the occasion.”

Ronaldo too appears to have understood his role in the squad well. According to the club’s official website, the veteran gave a rousing address to his teammates on the eve of the game.

The rallying cry appears to have done wonders as the Red Devils looked like they meant business on the night. Apart from his abilities on the field, Ronaldo also brings with him a no-nonsense mentality that is synonymous with winning the biggest trophies in the game.
