Transfer News: Manchester United face Juventus competition for Aurelien Tchouameni

According to transfer news from Calciomercato (h/t InsideFutbol), the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea face tough competition from Juventus to sign Aurelien Tchouameni.

Aurelien Tchouameni is a highly sought-after man in Europe. The 21-year-old has made more than 90 professional appearances in all competitions. He was heavily linked with a move to England this window, but nothing materialised.

The AS Monaco midfielder went on to make his debut for the national side in the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier this month. Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba also praised the youngster’s ability after playing together in the French squad. He went on record to say:

“He’s (Aurelien Tchouameni) not a boy, he’s a man…It’s a pleasure to play next to him.”

Juventus are reportedly interested in bringing the ex-Bordeaux midfielder to Turin. He was a target for the Italian side in the recent transfer window but the Italian club could not shift Aaron Ramsey and Weston McKennie before the transfer window ended.

The Bianconeri put a bid to bring the player on loan with an option to buy in the last window. This deal was rejected by AS Monaco. Juventus will be looking to make another bid for the player in the summer next year. This will come as a concern for Manchester United, who have been interested in the young midfielder, along with Chelsea.

Tchouameni was signed from Bordeaux for £16m and plays in a central midfield position for Monaco. The French midfielder has a strong presence and stands at 6 ft giving him an edge in the midfield. It could also help him play a deeper role despite his lack of experience in that role.

The youngster ranked second in Ligue 1 for tackles and fourth for interceptions last season. All of these traits make him desirable for any big club. With Juventus joining the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in pursuit of him, it will be interesting to see who makes a move for him.
