As confirmed by the club’s official website, Manchester United have announced their squad for the 2021/22 English Premier League season.

With the summer transfer window now shut, the focus now shifts to the performances on the field. The Red Devils have won two of their three Premier League games so far, earning seven points out of a possible nine.

This has seen them keep abreast of the teams at the top of the table. A victory over Newcastle United will keep the run going and ensure we sustain our good start to the season.

According to the rules, each club may register 25 first-team players aged over 21. Of these, at least eight players must be classified as homegrown. As things stand, the list released by United has 15 players who can be classified as such.

Thankfully there is no restriction on the number of under-21 players who can supplement the squad. It comes as very handy for us given that both Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood fulfil that criteria.

A single look at the squad will showcase the strength in depth that United possess. While Daniel James was sold, his loss was offset by bringing in Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The defence too was strengthened by securing Raphael Varane while Tom Heaton is a shrewd third-choice goalkeeper to bring in. Ole Gunnar Solskajer now has enough options to sustain a prolonged title challenge.

With the summer now done and dusted, the onus to perform shifts onto the players. There can be no excuses this time around.
