As reported by Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are pushing to get a deal done for Everton FC defender, Jarrad Branthwaite. The Red Devils have been linked to the 21-year-old for quite some time now.

Branthwaite has been the shining light for the relegation-threatened Premier League side. Everton have almost nothing to show for this season but the emergence of Jarrad Branthwaite has given the fans something to be happy about.

The English defender is a physical specimen standing tall at 1,95 m. With Branthwaite protecting the box or attacking the opponent’s box, there aren’t a lot of crosses that can go by untouched.

Moreover, his large frame is ideal for blocking shots. When you pair his physical gifts with his defensive intelligence it becomes clear that Jarrad Branthwaite is a top-class defender.

Now Manchester United are in desperate need of his breed so the team can be expected to be relentless in their pursuit. With Raphael Varane leaving and the future of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans unsure, the team needs defensive reinforcements.

Branthwaite will likely be the first of many to arrive this season. However, any deal for the 21-year-old needs to be done quickly since Man United aren’t the only club who are calling Everton for Branthwaite this summer.
