Manchester United team news ahead of Premier League clash against Crystal Palace
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United will take on Crystal Palace in their first game under Ralf Rangnick this weekend.
The German boss took over as the new interim manager and will serve in the capacity until the end of the season. Former star and coach Michael Carrick was the caretaker manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure and led the team to three matches in the meanwhile.
The win over Arsenal left Man United seventh in the table, three points off the fourth spot. A concentrated run of positive results in the fixtures this month should help aid the club’s quest for a top-four finish.
Both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Nemanja Matic did not feature against Arsenal but could be in contention to make it to this weekend’s clash against Palace. Whether either of them starts the match or comes off the bench if at all remains to be seen.
Another player who is a major doubt for the game is Luke Shaw. The English international is suffering from a head injury sustained against Watford and is yet to completely recover. Man United could very well be forced to line up sans their first choice fullbacks on the night.
Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba remain ruled out while Uruguayan veteran Edinson Cavani is facing a race against time to be available for the tie.
Crucially enough, Cristiano Ronaldo is a doubt for the game after picking up a slight knock in the win over Arsenal. The Portuguese superstar has been the club’s primary source of goals this season and his absence would have been a bitter blow.
Ironically enough, he sustained the knee injury while celebrating against Arsenal.
