Erik ten Hag wants Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni at Manchester United
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is keen on adding Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni to his ranks this summer, according to Sport (h/t Mirror).
The Dutch manager has requested the Red Devils’ hierarchy to make an attempt to acquire the services of the France international. As things stand, the Old Trafford side are anticipated to make a move for a midfielder, with Rasmus Hojlund’s signing from Atalanta close to being official.
To that end, the La Liga outfit’s 23-year-old is on United’s radar. Ten Hag likes the former AS Monaco midfielder. At the moment, the Red Devils are considering making a bid for him.
The Old Trafford side’s proposal for Tchouameni could be ‘very similar’ to the €80 million the Spanish giants spent on him last summer. Los Blancos could also be tempted to cash in on the French national to pursue Kylian Mabppe from Paris Saint-Germain.
However, apart from the Manchester-based club, other teams in the English top flight have been linked with the midfielder as well. Premier League rivals Liverpool have been associated with getting a hold of his signature.
Tchouameni had a mixed debut campaign at Madrid. He started off brightly at the Santiago Bernabeu outfit but struggled a bit after the 2022 World Cup. The French national was not trusted by Carlo Ancelotti in crucial Champions League matches last season.
At United, we have already added Mason Mount to our ranks. The England international’s arrival will arguably make us stronger, with the 24-year-old seemingly competing with Christian Eriksen.
However, in the number six position, Casemiro had to shoulder the burden in the previous campaign. The likes of Scott McTominay and Fred were unable to provide adequate cover in the Brazil international’s absence.

Despite Tchouameni’s struggles towards the end of the 2022/23 term, he has showcased immense potential and talent. However, whether the Old Trafford side will make a move for him remains to be seen.
