Manchester United ready to offload Paul Pogba in January
According to Sky Sports (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United are pushing to offload Paul Pogba in the January transfer window.
This comes just a day after the player’s agent Mino Raiola ruled out an exit from Old Trafford at least until next summer.
The agent’s comments will have done little to pacify Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is reportedly furious at him for broaching the topic of Pogba’s future on the eve of the RB Leipzig clash.
Raiola’s original comments coming on the eve of such an important game will have done little to help the team morale. Whether it was because of his outburst or not, Pogba started against the Germans on the bench.
He came on in the second half with us trailing 3-0 and helped us bring the match to within a goal of being salvaged. While we can have no complaints regarding his performance on the night, the impact Raiola’s comments have had cannot be overlooked.
While he may have his client’s best interests at heart, Raiola would have been better served not going public as he did. Solskjaer’s anger at him is totally justified. (h/t The Mirror)
The decision to sell Pogba in January can potentially help us avoid worrying about Raiola causing more unrest for the remainder of the season.
Moreover, with Pogba’s contract expiring in 2022, we will be taking a risk letting him enter the final year of his deal at United. The prospect of potentially losing a player for who we paid a club record to sign, for free, is something to avoid at all costs.

Whether United will bring in a replacement for Pogba in January if we sell him remains to be seen. Ed Woodward had claimed recently that the club is willing to back Solskajer in the summer. (h/t The Mirror)
Such a decision could also help Donny van de Beek to play a greater role at the club. The Dutchman has been used sparingly since moving to United in the summer.
