Antony has remained a favourite of Erik ten Hag despite performing underwhelmingly throughout the season, receiving criticism from fans and pundits alike.

He was recently criticised by former footballer-turned-pundit Clinton Morrison for celebrating against Coventry City during Man United’s FA Cup semi-final win over them.

The Crystal Palace game is one of Man United’s four remaining Premier League games ahead of their FA Cup final rematch against Man City on May 25.

A little too late for promises

Neither Erik ten Hag nor Antony can say much at this point in the season to save their respective Man United careers.

The Dutchman’s continuous preference of the Brazilian has not just been a point of contention for the onlookers, but also the players in his dressing room, and since the results have not arrived to defend this call of his, there’s every chance both of them will be shown the exit door in the summer.

There is Saudi interest in Antony, meaning United might just be able significantly cut their losses if they do decide to move him on, as they look to turn over a new leaf and distance themselves from the mistakes of recent past.
