Manchester United could set a new Premier League record against Aston Villa

According to the Mirror, should we win by three or more goals at Villa Park, we will set a Premier League record for consecutive wins by a 3-goal margin.

Manchester United have in recent weeks looked more like the team of old, the one that mesmerized fans under Sir Alex Ferguson.

It is fitting that a player who contributed to that on the field now is leading us off it as well. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has brought back the good days to Old Trafford.

We are currently on a 16-game unbeaten run, stretching all the way back to our loss at Anfield in January.

Manchester United have been scoring for fun of late

Goals have been easier to come by of late, thanks to our prolific front three. The triumvirate of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood has contributed to 55 goals so far.

They could help the club enter the history books if they continue their ruthless streak against Aston Villa on Thursday.

Sheffield United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Bournemouth have all been swatted aside with impunity. We could now set a record if we beat Aston Villa by 3 goals.

Given Villa’s current form, it is more than likely we would achieve the milestone, provided the players turn up. The venue is a favourite hunting ground for United, who have not lost in their last 20 outings.

Villa have not defeated United since the opening day of the 1995-96 campaign.

Solskajer’s side cannot afford to drop points, with the race for a top-four finish gathering pace. A win will take us to within a point off 4th-placed Leicester City with four games to go.

The Foxes have won just once since the restart and the fourth place is there for the taking. Our match against them on the last day of the season might well turn into a winner-takes-all clash.
