Manchester United to kick off their 2021/22 PL season at home against Leeds United
As confirmed by the club’s official site, Manchester United will kick off their 2021/22 PL season against arch-rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford on August 14.
It promises to be a high-octane match between two teams who have an innate dislike for each other. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will need to be at their best against Marcelo Bielsa and his high-octane side.
The corresponding fixture last season saw us put up one of our best performances of the campaign. The Red Devils smashed their opponents 6-2 in what was a largely flattering scoreline for the visitors. More of the same would be a welcome start to the new campaign.
This will be the first time since 1970 that Leeds will be visiting us on the opening day. The Whites took home the bragging rights that night thanks to a goal by Mick Jones. Hopefully, history will not repeat itself this time around.
While we do have a relatively manageable opening set of matches, the true test will come in October and November. United face an eight-week period where they play all of last season’s top five clubs in addition to fixtures against Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.
With Champions League fixtures also in the mix, the end of the year will test Solskjaer’s squad rotation to the limit. We now take a look at what fans had to say regarding the schedule.

Could’ve been a lot worse. First seven games are a chance to build up a good amount of points, if you want to be champions you have to be ready to play City and Liverpool in the space of two weeks.
