Harvey Neville signs first professional contract with Manchester United

According to MEN, Harvey Neville has signed his professional contract with Manchester United.

Son of former Red Devil Phil Neville, the 18-year-old will look to carry on the legacy of the family name. Gary Neville and Phil Neville, the brothers, were a part of one of the most successful eras in the club’s history.

Phil and Neville combined made close to a 1000 appearances for the club as the Red Devils made it a habit of winning trophies. Coming from such a family, much will be expected of Harvey.

Having started off at Untied, Harvey went on to enjoy spells at both Manchester City and later Valencia. He returned to the Theatre of Dreams in 2018 and has since impressed for the club’s Under-18 side.

Following in his father and uncle’s footsteps, the youngster is also a right-back. However, unlike them, he has made his international bow at the youth level for Northern Ireland and not England.

Neville qualifies for the Republic through his mother Julie’s family and made his U19 international debut in a defeat to Denmark last October.

Harvey is keen to not clutch to the coattails of the family name and is determined to make his own mark at the club.

“He wants to do it his own way and he’s not influenced by anyone in the family.”
