Juventus willing to offer Costa and Pjanic in exchange for Paul Pogba

According to Sky Sports and journalist Gianluca di Marzio (h/t Metro), Italian giants Juventus are willing to offer players in part exchange for Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman’s high profile return to Old Trafford has not gone according to plan. Injuries and the antics of Mino Raiola have called into question his future at the club.

A return to Turin could be on the cards, with Juventus ready to step up their interest in the player. The ambitious attempt involves United being offered the chance to sign two stars in Douglas Costa and Miralem Pjanic.

Although United would still ideally like to keep Pogba, they realise that they risk losing him for nothing if he does not sign a contract extension. They would rather cash in if they receive a figure around the £89million they spent on the midfielder four years ago.

According to the report, Juventus cannot afford to pay the amount and will look to offset it through a swap deal. With the financial crisis set to affect how the transfer market works, Juventus are one of the clubs that feel swap deals could be the way forward.

A deal to pass!

Pjanic turned 30 earlier this month while Costa will do the same in September. Both players are nearing the twilight of their careers and it does not make sense for United to cash in on a world cup winner for two has-beens.

The Red Devils have made it a priority to build a youthful side under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Signing the duo will be the antithesis of that strategy.

Costa is also prone to injury, which will make him more of a liability rather than an asset. Pjanic has been a mainstay in the Juventus midfield but could find it difficult to cope with the speed and strength of the Premier League.

United are not desperate to sell Pogba and have the option of extending his contract by a year. We should rather keep the player than sell him for a deal that does not benefit us.

New signing Bruno Fernandes has spoken of playing alongside the Frenchman. Hopefully, it will be the start of a turnaround in fortunes.
