Juventus believe they can land Paul Pogba for a bargain

According to Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t MEN), Italian champions Juventus are confident of landing Manchester United star Paul Pogba for as little as €50m.

It represents a significant drop in valuation for a player who is on his day a world-beater. Unfortunately, he has not been able to showcase his best on a consistent basis at Old Trafford.

Pogba was valued at €100m in the summer. However, a loss in form combined with his contract winding down has seen his value plummet.

If that truly is the case, it would make sense for us to cut our losses rather than keep him on as an expensive underperforming asset.

Speaking recently, Juventus transfer chief Fabio Paratici also refused to rule out a move for the player next summer.

Paul Pogba was a different beast for Juventus

Juventus is a side Pogba will be familiar with, having left us to join them back in 2012. It was there that he developed into a world-class midfielder and formed the impressive MVP midfield alongside Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal.

He eventually returned to United in 2016 for what was a then world-record fee. Despite a few impressive showings, he has failed to get going.

Real Madrid are also keen on Pogba, with Zinedine Zidane a huge fan. However, with them eyeing Kylian Mbappe next summer, interest in Pogba may have to take a backseat.

Pogba’s performances at Juventus overshadow his achievements in the red of United. A return to a familiar place could be what he needs to turn around his recent misfortunes at club level.

United too have found themselves a new midfield talisman in Bruno Fernandes. Despite his undoubted talent, maybe Pogba is not as key for United as he once was. A parting of the ways may be the best for all parties involved.
