Manchester United star Paul Pogba opens up on the impact COVID-19 had on him
Speaking to MUTV (h/t Mirror), Manchester United star Paul Pogba has opened up on recovering from COVID-19 earlier in the season.
United’s preparations for the new season were dealt a blow with the French superstar was diagnosed with coronavirus. He eventually returned for our season opener against Crystal Palace.
“I wasn’t ready physically I would say. I felt weakness physically.”
The Frenchman lasted just 67 minutes and looked out of sorts as the Eagles put us to the sword at Old Trafford.
Performances against Brighton & Hove Albion and the 6-1 loss at home to Tottenham Hotspur did little to aid his case. This saw Pogba relegated to the bench soon after.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked to favour the more dynamic approach brought about by Scott McTominay and Fred in place of the Frenchman. However, having replaced the latter, Pogba made a case for himself in yesterday’s win over West Ham United.
He played all 90 minutes and even scored a scocher of a goal to draw us level in the second half. There is now hope that he can rediscover his best form.

“It’s strange, it’s hard to explain because you wouldn’t understand.”
He admitted that he found it hard to last a match and was often out of breath. This would explain the early difficulties he faced this season. (h/t Mirror)
“I get tired very fast and I’m out of breath really fast. The first game of the season, I couldn’t run. I was trying.”

With him back to fitness, Pogba is keen to settle into a rhythm. With key clashes against RB Leipzig and Manchester City to come, the midfielder’s return to form could not have come at a better time for United.
Hopefully, we will once again get to see the real Pogba. The one we paid a world-record fee to bring to United.
