Manchester United star Casemiro shows no interest in leaving the club during the January transfer window
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is not keen to leave the club amid links with cash-rich clubs from Saudi Arabia. The 31-year-old sustained a long-term injury, expected to sideline him until Christmas.
The Brazil captain has struggled with form this season despite being in goalscoring touch this season. Casemiro has struggled in the areas that are his primary responsibilities within the team as a defensive midfielder.
United have conceded 30 goals from 18 matches in all competitions, facing dire consequences after losing nine of those matches. The Red Devils teeter on the brink of elimination from the Champions League prior to reaching the knockout stage.
Furthermore, United need a consistent run of form to challenge for the top-four position in the Premier League. Many fans and pundits expected the club to challenge for the major trophies after last season’s progress.
United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid as a high-profile acquisition in the summer of 2022. The Brazil international achieved immense success in Spain and played a pivotal role in their five Champions League victories.
The 31-year-old began in sensational form, displaying qualities that placed him among the world’s best defensive midfielders. Casemiro helped the Red Devils achieve third position to qualify for this year’s Champions League. Over and above that, he played a key role in ending the six-year trophy drought with the Carabao Cup triumph.
Many fans and football pundits have criticized Casemiro for his performances since the latter end of last season. The Brazilian has regressed in many physical aspects, creating doubt over his ability to perform at the top level.
Opposition midfield attackers targeted the pocket of spaces between midfield and defence that the 31-year-old is responsible for securing. Casemiro, however, struggled to resist opponents and reclaim possession, failing to track back effectively.
GiveMeSport (h/t Express) reported that Casemiro has no interest in leaving the Red Devils during the January window. However, the temptation for a departure might arise for the Brazilian during the upcoming summer transfer window next year.
