Erik ten Hag ‘will do anything’ to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund at Manchester United
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag ‘will do anything’ to sign Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund in the ongoing transfer window, according to Corriere di Bergamo (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Dutch manager is keen to bolster the Red Devils’ striking department this summer. To that end, the Old Trafford side have had their eyes on the likes of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
However, a move for either of them is unlikely due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) concerns. To that end, the Serie A outfit’s Danish forward is the preferred alternative to reinforce the attack.
As a result, Ten Hag is determined to acquire the services of the 20-year-old. However, it remains to be seen how much La Dea will demand to part ways with him.
Atalanta signed Hojlund in the summer of 2022 from Sturm Graz. Subsequently, the Denmark international has become a key player for the Bergamo-based club.
The youngster has shown a lot of potential, but his numbers last season were not something to rave about. In the previous campaign, the 20-year-old found the back of the net 10 times in 34 appearances in all competitions for La Dea.
Unfortunately, at United, Ten Hag does not have a galore of options for the number nine position. Currently, Anthony Martial is the only natural striker at the gaffer’s disposal.
Last season, the Dutch manager was provided with the services of Wout Weghorst on loan in January to provide cover up front. The Holland international was called upon on several occasions due to the former AS Monaco star’s persistent injury troubles.
