Manchester United in talks with RB Salzburg for Benjamin Sesko
According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Manchester United have held talks over a potential move for RB Salzburg youngster Benjamin Sesko as Erik ten Hag looks to bring in attacking reinforcements,
The 19-year-old’s stock rose after his displays last season. The tall and imposing centre-forward is seen as an option by the Red Devils to add to the forward line this summer.
But the Austrian club are not keen on selling their prospect unless a massive bid arrives. Man United would need to pay a hefty price if they went after the Slovenia international.
We are currently in need of more support in the attack. The Manchester-based club lost Edinson Cavani after the end of the previous campaign. Cristiano Ronaldo also wants a move away from United.
The Red Devils need strength in depth as well. Last season, none of our forwards crossed the double-figure mark in terms of goals. Ronaldo was our highest goalscorer with 24 goals in all competitions.
Two players fans had high hopes from, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, failed to provide adequate support up front. The duo ended the campaign with five goals each.
However, Anthony Elanga played a prominent role in the side. The 19-year-old added more energy to the forward line. Anthony Martial, on the other hand, failed to get many opportunities and left for Sevilla in January on loan.
There have been some promising signs from all of our forwards in the pre-season under Erik ten Hag. But there is still a question mark on whether the players can continue performing at a high level throughout the next season.

Sesko scored 10 goals and provided seven assists last season. The 19-year-old may find it difficult to be the first name on Ten Hag’s XI if he signs, but fans wouldn’t mind having a quality option on the bench.
