Manchester United preparing £42 million offer for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time now. Man United are putting in a bid to see how the Serie A club reacts. Hopefully that should be enough for us to land the Serbian.
Since the arrival of Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils have been consistently linked with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. But the Dutch manager needs to consider alternatives in case the 25-year-old doesn’t leave the Camp Nou.
The club have identified Milinkovic-Savic as a possible addition, it seems. With the limited options we have in midfield, it’s good to see United going after a quality player.
The Serbian is a versatile box-to-box midfielder. The 27-year-old has built up a reputation as one of the best players in the Italian league. Last season for Lazio, Milinkovic-Savic scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists in 37 Serie A games.
Currently, the Manchester-based club lacks a quality player capable of making a difference in the central midfield position. We’ve had Fred and Scott McTominay play in the double pivot role for some time now, but their performances have often fallen short against top teams.
With the departure of Paul Pogba, we lack a flair player in the middle of the park. The Frenchman had an eye for goal. He also could break the lines and create chances for the team.
Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen are creative players, but they aren’t really known for tracking back and helping the team out in defence.

Milinkovic-Savic provides the complete package. A player like him certainly has the ability to strengthen United’s squad. However, whether we can successfully acquire the 27-year-old from Lazio remains to be seen.
