Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly following Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo saga
Todd Boehly is still monitoring the situation of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United. Chelsea are in need of a centre-forward and the new owner is ‘still keeping tabs’ on how the saga unfolds, according to 90min (h/t Express).
The Blues have been linked with a move for the Portuguese this summer, but nothing has materialised as of yet. Also, the Red Devils are unwilling to let go of the legendary number seven.
Ronaldo is adamant about leaving Manchester though, with Champions League football slipping away at the end of last season.
Some fans feel the Portuguese carried the team last season. Other players, from front to back, were below par. It was the 37-year-old who took the games by the scruff of their necks.
Ronaldo scored some crucial goals for United last season and ended the campaign as our top goalscorer. No other player in the squad managed more than 10 goals in all competitions last season.
Our defence didn’t help either. We leaked goals in the previous campaigns. Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof played the majority of last season. They all made errors at the back. As a result, the Red Devils ended the season with a goal difference of zero.
The midfield wasn’t able to open up opposition defences last season. The duo of Fred and Scott McTominay again were inconsistent. Bruno Fernandes didn’t have the best of seasons either.
Going forward, our new signing Jadon Sancho took time to settle in. But even then, the former Borussia Dortmund superstar failed to make an impact. Marcus Rashford, on the other hand, had one of his worst seasons in a United shirt.
