Inter Milan make contact with Lazio midfielder and Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Manchester United target and Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been contacted by Serie A giants Inter Milan, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com.
The Nerazzurri have gotten in touch with the midfielder’s agent to understand his situation. As things stand, the Serbia international’s current contract with the Stadio Olimpico side is set to expire at the end of next season.
As a result, the 28-year-old has two options on the table, either to renew his deal or part ways with the Rome-based club. The Biancocelesti will probably be willing to negotiate for a price tag of around €30 million.
The Premier League is also a potential destination to keep an eye out for Milinkovic-Savic. In 2019, the Old Trafford side were close to acquiring the midfielder’s services.
Over the years, the Serbian has developed into one of the best box-to-box players in Italy. He has developed a keen eye for goal and is also capable of producing decisive passes in the final third of the pitch.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the 28-year-old made 47 appearances in all competitions for Maurizio Sarri’s team, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists. The Rome-based club finished second in Serie A and are set to play Champions League football.
United’s engine room saw the arrival of Christian Eriksen last summer on a free transfer. The Denmark international has become a key player for Erik ten Hag at the Old Trafford side.
Unfortunately, the 31-year-old often seemed to struggle to complete the full 90 minutes last season. In the last few months, after returning from a lengthy period on the sidelines, the playmaker put in some underwhelming performances.
