Liverpool looking to sign Manchester United target and Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
The midfielder is set to enter the final year of his current contract at the Serie A outfit in the coming months. As a result, the Biancocelesti are open to parting ways with the Serbia international next summer to avoid losing him for free.
To that end, the 28-year-old could be available for a bargain price of £22.5 million in the upcoming transfer window. The Merseyside outfit feel he can help them come next season.
Milinkovic-Savic has been at Lazio since the summer of 2015. The Serbian has been one of the best midfielders in Italy for some time now. He possesses a keen eye for goals and also has the ability to unlock defences.
In the current campaign, Maurizio Sarri’s team have secured second place in the league. The 28-year-old has made 46 appearances in all competitions for the Stadio Olimpico side, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists.
Liverpool have struggled this season. Their ageing and underperforming midfield has seemingly been an issue for them. Also, they are set to lose James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain next summer.
As for United, we signed Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the summer of 2022. The Danish national has surprised many with his influence in Erik ten Hag’s plans.
However, without the 31-year-old in the team, the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have left a lot to be desired at times. The Red Devils signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan in January from Bayern Munich to add depth to the engine room.

Milinkovic-Savic is an experienced number eight. The Serbian has showcased his talent over the years at Lazio. With the midfielder’s contract expiring soon, he is going to be available for a relatively low price. But it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will pip us to the 28-year-old’s signature.
