Manchester United willing to offer Frenkie de Jong massive wages to make move attractive

Manchester United are willing to offer Frenkie de Jong a massive deal at the club to lure the midfielder away from Barcelona, according to Sport (h/t Express).

The Dutch national has no intention of joining the Red Devils and leaving the Catalans this summer. The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester ever since the arrival of Erik ten Hag, but it seems unlikely that De Jong will don the red shirt next season.

At Barcelona, the midfielder is believed to earn close to £360,000 a week. United are prepared to make a ‘financial gesture’ in order to facilitate the 25-year-old’s move to Old Trafford. But the midfielder’s family is not keen on moving to England.

With Champions League football also missing from our schedule in the upcoming campaign, it seems challenging to entice De Jong to Manchester. The Dutch midfielder has made his intentions clear to Ten Hag.

We’ve been chasing the 25-year-old for a while now. However, the club must focus on other targets for the time being and try to reinforce the squad with alternative options. Doing so, if in the end, De Jong doesn’t move to United, we wouldn’t have a lot to worry about in the final stages of the window.

Currently, the Red Devils managed to sign three players this summer. Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez are the new faces in the squad.

It’s good that we have invested in our defence. Last season was frustrating for fans as the backline made a lot of errors and leaked goals. But we also need to focus on other areas of the pitch, midfield being one of them.

De Jong is a quality player who has experience playing under Ten Hag at Ajax. The 25-year-old is one of the best midfielders out there. And we’re in need of someone like the Dutchman to occupy a space in the middle of the park.
