Manchester United expect new manager Erik ten Hag to aid Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in rediscovering best form

According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has been backed to aid Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in rebuilding their careers at Old Trafford.

Both players are coming off a poor 2021/22 campaign, that saw them struggle to make an impact on the field. Hopefully, with a new manager in charge, the time is ripe for the English duo to rekindle their flame.

The Dutchman incorporated an all-action high press style of football at Ajax Amsterdam, It brought the Eredivisie giants much success and he is keen to replicate it at Old Trafford.

ten Hag has already informed the squad of his intentions and expects them to buy into his ideas. It appears to be a no-nonsense style of management and hopefully, it will change our fortunes as well.

Sancho was Man United’s marquee signing last summer but has struggled to live up to expectations. He made a paltry return of five goals and three assists in 38 games, an abject output from a player who promised so much.

At 22, the Englishman is young enough to rekindle his career and fulfil his potential. To give up on him would be premature and should he impress, we might have a special player on our hands.

The same can be said of Rashford who was a shadow of himself last season. He looked bereft of ideas and was constantly off the pace. Constantly a match-winner for us, his fall off impacted us massively last season.

The 24-year-old could do with a fresh challenge and looked burnt out in recent times. Hopefully, he will respond well to ten Hag and his ideas soon and show us why our fans have tipped him to become one of the very best in Europe someday.
