According to The Athletic, Manchester United have been handed some splendid news about the future of French ace Paul Pogba.

The 28-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract and has been linked to a number of top clubs from across Europe. The prospect of losing him on a free is unfathomable and United may have been handed a boost in their efforts of keeping him.

The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo put the cherry on top of a summer that also saw Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane join the club. The Red Devils are currently top of the table and the future looks bright at Old Trafford.

The recent upturn in fortunes and overflowing positivity appears to have had an effect on Pogba’s line of thought. The chances of him staying put at the Theatre of Dreams have not been ruled out.

According to the report, a number of factors could play a role in making up the Frenchman’s mind. This includes how the new signings fare, how the season goes and what the club has planned for the long term.

Pogba is free to discuss terms with foreign clubs from January. This gives United a little under three months to make their move. The longer we can keep the good vibes flowing, the easier it may prove to convince the midfielder.

United, for their part, are prepared for any eventuality. They are already working on contingency plans should the player depart and could put them into action if it comes to that. United are realistic about the situation and, accordingly, have started making contingency plans in case the midfielder is to depart.
