Galatasaray plot shock transfer for Manchester United’s Raphael Varane

Galatasaray are ready to sign Manchester United defender, Raphael Varane

As reported by Turkish publication Fanatik, Galatasaray are looking to sign Manchester United defender, Raphael Varane this summer. The 31-year-old start will be out of contract at the end of this season.

His wages are a little too much for United so the Frenchman has not received a new offer yet. As things stand, two Frenchmen, Varane and Anthony Martial are expected to leave the grounds of Old Trafford on a free transfer during the upcoming window.

The Red Devils paid £41m to Real Madrid for the signing of Varane back in 2021. Over the next three years, Varane made 93 appearances for the club and struggled to find his form from his time in Spain.

Now that age is catching up to him its time for a different chapter in the Frenchman’s footballing journey. He was still playing at a high level until last season, however, his recent injury struggles have led to a drop in form.

A move to Galatasaray who compete in a lower league will be more forgiving on the 31-year-old’s body. This will allow for more minutes and hopefully will help Varane get back to playing his best football.

Varane was one of the best defenders in the world a few years ago so he has all the tools necessary to compete at the highest level. Hopefully, his departure from United won’t be the beginning of a downward spiral for the Frenchman.
