Frank Leboeuf asks Raphael Varane to reconsider Manchester United move
According to IB Times, Frank Leboeuf has asked Raphael Varane to reconsider a move to Manchester United. The French international wants a move to the Premier League with United. However, the former Chelsea defender warned Varane that United are different from what they used to be and are not title challengers.
The Red Devils are in need of a new defender and have identified the French international as a priority signing. With his contract set to expire season year, Real too have a decision to make this summer. The Spanish giants are keen on cashing in on the Frenchman this summer and want to avoid losing him for free.
Varane was a subject of interest from Sir Alex Ferguson around 10 years ago. But he has now become a world-class star at Real Madrid. He is arguably at his peak right now. The World Cup winner has spoken about his desire to take on a new challenge and remains interested in a move to Old Trafford.
However, his compatriot and former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has asked him to rethink his decision of a move to United.
“We know the history of Man United but we are talking about the past. They finished in second place in the league but I’m not sure it’s a goal for everyone to go to Manchester United now unless they have three or four new signings coming in as well so they can challenge Manchester City and Liverpool next season. I don’t know what Raphael Varane’s goal is but I’d have some questions before going to Manchester United.”

In a way, Leboeuf does have a point that United are not in the same place they were 10 years ago under Sir Alex. However, the side is showing improvement and can be title contenders as they showed in glimpses last season. An addition like Varane would go a long way in helping the team take the next step.
