Didier Deschamps explains why Manchester United star Paul Pogba plays so differently for France
According to MEN, Didier Deschamps has explained why Manchester United ace Paul Pogba plays so differently for France. He felt that Pogba has a more free role in the national team for him to express himself and affect the game in a way that benefits the side.
Ever since his (then) world-record move to Manchester United, there has been the stickling opinion that Pogba is yet to play his best football in a red shirt. There have obviously been fleeting glimpses over the last five seasons that Pogba does have it in his locker. However, he cannot seem to produce it week in week out.
It has not been helped by the fact that his performances for France are on a whole different level. He managed to win the World Cup for France in 2018. Now, he is providing a good show of his talent in the ongoing Euros.
Deschamps explained how Pogba fares better for France
A man who knows Pogba and gets the best out of him, Didier Deschamps provided an explanation as to what makes Pogba tick for the national side.
“Listen, Paul is a complete midfielder. He has so many qualities – he can pass vertically, diagonally, all of this is part of his game. Then, of course, we work on the positioning, but it’s not only about playing good passes, it’s also about the positioning before the pass.
“His role is quite liberal, he’s not limited in the offensive approach. If there’s a need, he can also go back to win the ball behind, but on the pitch sometimes he can play a little bit higher or lower. His position can also develop between the left and right side, it just depends on the positioning of the other players.”

It is understandable that Pogba can play a more free role for France. He has a world-class team around him to complement his abilities. He has shown that he can do it for United too provided the side is balanced. United will need to get Pogba a decent supporting cast that can make him stay at the club and flourish.
