Leicester City ready to sell Caglar Soyuncu to Manchester United for €50m
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti on Twitter, Manchester United have already identified Leicester City star Caglar Soyuncu as an alternative for Raphael Varane.
The Red Devils are said to be closing in on the Real Madrid man who has just over a year to go on his current deal. He is ready for a new challenge and is ready to bid goodbye to the Santiago Bernabeu. The player however is seeking a mammoth £400,000-a-week in wages and it remains to be seen if the club will cave in. (h/t The Independent)
With Paris Saint-Germain also in the fray, the Frenchman is not short of options. Thankfully United do not appear to be putting all their eggs in one basket.
According to Galetti, United are also keeping tabs on Soyuncu. The Turkish international is steadily establishing himself as an elite centre-back at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester are difficult to negotiate with and usually dig in their heels regarding their top players. United will be familiar with it after being forced to pay a world-record fee to land Maguire in 2019. They will however be willing to accept around €50m for the player.
A pacy player, Soyuncu will add just that to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rearguard. His physicality is also an added bonus and will serve us well against the more robust opponents.
Soyuncu and Maguire played together three times for Leicester. Bringing the former to United will give them the chance to rekindle their partnership. Alongside Jamie Vardy, Soyuncu was one of two Foxes stars to be nominated for the 2019/20 PFA Team of the Year. While injuries did slow him down last time around, he is on his day a top-class defender.

Varane is not the only defender on United’s radar. Villarreal star Pau Torres is also on the club’s radar alongside Sevilla star Jules Kounde. Who we ultimately get remains to be seen.
